Spaghetti Fundraiser March 11, 2007

Our annual fund raiser went off without a hitch. Thanks go to the committee members / adult leaders who helped procure, cook and serve the food to a hungry crowd. Also, thanks go to the scouts (and their parents) in gathering a great selection of items for our Chinese auction. Of course, nothing would happen without the scouts – whose setup, serving and cleanup activities were successfully orchestrated by none other than SPL TomS himself.

Spy vs Spy – Washington style March 6, 2007

Looks like the Washington trip went off without a hitch – even though one of the vehicles planned to make the trip decided to back out at the last minute. The boys visited many local attractions – including the space & flight museum, the scouting memorial, and the spy museum. Thankfully, the spy museum was visited after the scheduled trip to the white house – I’m not so certain these mustachio’ed villians would have been granted entry.
Thanks to all adults for taking the time to make this event a memorable one. Pictures can be seen here.

Our annual fund raiser! get ready…

March 2, 3, 4 Troop 565 is planning a trip to Washington DC. It will cost @$150 for lodging, food and entertainment. The scouts will spend 2 nights in the Washington D.C. Youth Hostel. Tour the Spy Museum, monuments, museums, and hopefully the White House. Dinner Saturday will be at the Hard Rock Café. They will also see an IMAX movie Saturday evening. The troop will depart Friday evening and return Sunday.
In order to secure the reservation at the hostel a deposit is required immediately. The deposit is $32 per person and must be received by the January 8, 2007 troop meeting. The deposit is non-refundable and signifies a commitment to go on the trip. The total cost of the hostel will be $64 so if you can not go on the trip you will be obligated to pay an additional $32 to cancel. They have a non-refundable cancellation policy and we will be using the deposit to reserve 2 nights for each person.
I apologize for the short notice but the hostel will only hold the reservation until this week without a deposit. They also need an exact count so that they can make sure we have a sufficient number of private rooms for the scouts and adult volunteers.
The deposit of $32 is required for all participants, scouts and adults, and must be received by Jan. 8th. Contact Jill Lau if you have any questions about the arrangements. There will be more detailed information on itinerary as the trip gets closer. It is most critical at this time that the hostel reservation is secured and the exact number of participants is finalized. Scout account money can be used for the deposit.
