Washington DC Trip Info January 26, 2007
Posted by Jim Galley [ASM] in : events , comments closedWhen: March 2-4
Where: Washington, DC
Update Jan 26: The next deposit of $60 is due on January 29th. Balance for the trip will be on February 12th (or feel free to pay the entire balance of $120 on the 29th) . All payments must be on time!
Guess what? Troop 565 is planning a trip to Washington DC. It will cost $150 for lodging, food and entertainment. The scouts will spend 2 nights in the Washington D.C. Youth Hostel, tour the Spy Museum, monuments, museums, and hopefully the White House. Dinner Saturday will be at the Hard Rock Café. They will also see an IMAX movie Saturday evening. The troop will depart Friday evening and return Sunday.
In order to secure the reservation at the hostel a deposit is required immediately. The deposit is $32 per person and must be received by the January 8, 2007 troop meeting. The deposit is non-refundable and signifies a commitment to go on the trip. The total cost of the hostel will be $64 so if you can not go on the trip you will be obligated to pay an additional $32 to cancel. They have a non-refundable cancellation policy and we will be using the deposit to reserve 2 nights for each person.
I apologize for the short notice but the hostel will only hold the reservation until this week without a deposit. They also need an exact count so that they can make sure we have a sufficient number of private rooms for the scouts and adult volunteers.
The deposit of $32 is required for all participants, scouts and adults, and must be received by Jan. 8th. Contact Jill Lau if you have any questions about the arrangements. There will be more detailed information on itinerary as the trip gets closer. It is most critical at this time that the hostel reservation is secured and the exact number of participants is finalized. Scout account money can be used for the deposit.
Ski Trip Update January 20, 2007

Where: Mountain Creek, Vernon, NJ
Update Jan 20: Well - snow is on the hills (the picture was taken from the Mountain Creek website on Jan 11th). While forms were given out to all interested scouts - somehow the forms disappeared. Forms are due on the 22nd - so interested scouts can download a new one here. Keep your fingers crossed - hopefully all that snow will stay around till February!
Forms were handed out to the scouts in December with the details of the ski trip and the form to submit with payment for the trip. There is a change to the payment requirements. Payment for the ski trip has been moved to Jan. 22, 2007. Prepayment is required so I can guarantee group discounts and assemble the requirements for our group. If there is no snow because of mild weather and the trip is canceled money will be refunded. Refunds will only be honored as a group but if the trip is on and you decide to cancel as an individual your money will not be refunded.
‘07 Winter (?) Camporee January 18, 2007

2007 has arrived - but Winter still seemed to be on vacation during this years Winter Camporee. Held at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp, our scouts participated in several competitions, won the sled race, and brought enough food to keep each patrol stuffed for the weekend. Our station - water from snow - was a little difficult to perform when the temperature hovered around 45 degrees. Ah, but the rain was there - our constant companion on troop 565 outings. We’ve got some pictures to view here.
