StonyBrook Seawolves Game: The weather must have thought we were camping this weekend - as soon as the scouts hit the football field, the rain started to come down. Everyone who attended had fun, regardless of the weather. We only have a few pictures from the football game, so if anyone else has some to share, let us know and we will post them up for all to see.
Court of Honor: Cameras were snapping at the Court of Honor held October 30th at the Smithtown United Methodist Church - Congrats to all the boys who advanced / received award patches - this has to be the most patches awarded at the fall court of honor to date. Thanks go to Scoutmaster Ed for sending these pictures for all to enjoy. If you have any other pictures to contribute, let us know.

Holiday Fundraiser October 25, 2006
Posted by Jim Galley [ASM] in : general , comments closed
It’s that time of year again!
The troop will be selling wreaths for the holidays. A substantial portion of the profits will be credited to the individual scout funds1. These discretionary funds are used to subsidize activities the boys participate in during the year. Each scout is responsible for selling twelve wreaths at a reasonable $15 per wreath (of course, they are encouraged to sell more!). Remember, wreaths cannot be returned, so each scout must be responsible for selling their allotted wreaths (and bringing in funds for future activities!)
Flyers will be distributed shortly at the scout meeting - or you can download the Flyers here!

1 - What is a scout fund? From the BSA handbook:
Each Scout has his own individual Scout Account. This account operates as the Scout’s own "bank account" that he can put money in (through his fundraising efforts and direct deposit) to be used to pay for his dues, camping, and activity fees. The status of each individual Scout’s finances is available from the Treasurer. A percentage (determined in advance by the Troop Committee) of most fund-raising profits related to the Scout’s direct effort will be placed into the Scout Account of those Scouts participating in the fundraiser. The Scout can also make deposits to his Scout Account through the Troop Scribe to be recorded and given to the Troop Treasurer to be deposited. Expenses related to Scouting can be paid out of his Scout account.
