Memorial Day: Flag Placement Ceremony May 27, 2006

Posted by Jim Galley [ASM] in : events, general , trackback

When: Saturday, May 27th @ 9:00am sharp
Where: Calverton National Cemetery, site # 71

The scouts are encouraged to participate in the annual flag placement at Calverton National Cemetery to honor all the veterans who gave so much for all of us.  Participating in this event emphasizes the importance of this significant national holiday.

The event usually starts when units, at their pre-assigned cemetery, place U.S. gravesite flags at each grave to recognize and honor our military men and women. At 11:00 am, following the placement of flags, all Scouts and families are invited to participate in a short ceremony and enjoy refreshments. Units are expected to return the following Saturday, June 3rd at 9:30 am to remove the flags and place them in bundles for storage for the following year. Each participant will receive a 2006 commemorative patch.
